The DeWalt DWX726 is a solid rolling miter saw stand. It has adjustable mounting rails which can be easily adapted to fit almost any model of a miter saw or a wood planner. It is a gas-assisted rolling stand and is an improvement over the similar models present in the market. It provides excellent support for the saw and the rollers help in providing consistent feed and support for the work piece. It has excellent build quality and can stand work material up to 300 pounds. It can be very easily stowed and raised for quick setup of saw or planer. Assembling this miter saw stand is not difficult and will take an individual around 30 to 45 minutes to put it all together.
In our testing, we looked for ease of setting it up and time is taken for raising and stowing. We also checked its total weight carrying capacity and its support for the work material. Since it is a rolling saw stand, we also tested the tires by rolling it up and down the slope and on the level surface.
We were not disappointed with the performance of this 65 pounds heavy stand in our tests. It remains completely stable once it is set up perfectly. We were also impressed with the slide rollers which roll and do a great job at feeding the work material. Based on the ease of operation, build quality and decent price, we rate the Dewalt DWX726 rolling miter saw stand at 4.8 out of five stars.
One of the most important things in a miter saw stand is the material used for its construction. Since a saw stand handles heavy power tools, which can be dangerous if the saw stand gives up in the middle of an operation, we place the highest importance on the build quality.
Dewalt has used durable tubular steel for construction of this rolling stand. The steel tube can handle a lot of weight without giving up. Even though Dewalt has rated the maximum capacity of this stand at 300 pounds, we suspect that it can handle even more weight though one should not test this in real life working conditions.
The main selling point of this miter saw stand is its portability. Since it is designed to be tagged along to a job site, the designers have worked a lot on the portability aspect, and it shows in the final product.
There are two main aspects which aid in making this portable. One aspect is the ease of lifting and folding. To lift up this miter stand, you just need to put your foot on the lower steel bar and then gently lift it up by holding the rolling support and then just let it go down. This will engage the pneumatic support, and it will become stable. To collapse the stand, you just need to put your foot down on the lower bar and lift the stand slightly so that the pneumatic support is disengaged. It then collapses under its weight slowly.
Once it has collapsed, you can easily lug it around on the tires. You can leave the miter saw or planer clamped on it without any worries. It remains stable in the upright position also.
The weight of this miter saw stand is 67 pounds, which is comparatively light when compared to similarly sized stands. It can be folded and stored easily and does not require much space. When folded, it has a height of just 70 inches and a width of 59.5 inches. It can be extended up to a width of 98 inches and a height of 32.5 inches.
DWX 726 as far as stability is concerned, we were quite sure that this would not stand up to other stands with legs without any rollers, but we were wrong. In our testing, we found that this miter saw stand remains as stable as any other stand.
The only downside of rollers is that its weight carrying capacity gets reduced as compared to stands without rollers.
